'An Era Of Tales' was composed to mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Wind Band 'Broederband' from Rijkevorsel (B). This festive composition brings together, through music, various traditions and highlights from the band's rich history. The work takes the listener on a journey through familiar aspects of the society's life. A warm and solemn chorale alludes to the annual religious services, whilst a light and playful section evokes the convivial atmosphere of the traditional celebrations. The successful 'Proms' concerts are also given a prominent place. An energetic passage features musical references to audience favourites such as Also Sprach Zarathustra, Music, Hey Jude and Rainbow Warrior. These contrasting moods are linked by an atmospheric introduction and culminate in a powerful, festive apotheosis. Thus, this composition not only pays tribute to a century of music, friendship and commitment, but also serves as a musical reflection of the identity of the Royal Wind Band 'Broederband' from Rijkevorsel. It is a work that looks back on the past with respect, whilst at the same time looking forward to the future with confidence.
