  • Composer: Steven De Baecke
  • Instrumentation: Concert Band – Orchestre d’Harmonie - Blasorchester
  • Grade: 3
  • Duration: 6'30''
  • Item number: BVT250

The inspiration came from a single rhythmic motif: the anapaest. (short, short, long).

The main theme is designed so that this rhythm repeatedly attracts attention. In the further development of the work, this rhythmic motif makes you think more and more of horses' hooves. The percussionists depict the trotting horses through the use of woodblocks and maracas.

This work won the 2022 Vlamo Composition Competition for the 3rd division, and in the spring of 2023 it was premiered by the Koninklijke Harmonie van Peer conducted by Kevin Houben.
