Yves Wuyts

Yves Wuyts, born on 14 April 1981 in Neerpelt (B) and grew up in Bocholt. He took his first musical steps at the North Limburg Institute for Music and Word in Neerpelt. His trumpet teacher was Mr Willy Opsteyn. Yves graduated with great distinction. During this training he successfully participated in several soloist competitions, culminating in the regional and national title in 1997.

After that he continued his studies at the Conservatory of Antwerp with Alain De Rudder and Steven Verhaert. There he also completed his studies Hafabra conducting with Dirk De Caluwe and Jan Hadermann. At the Lemmens Institute in Leuven he completed his Master conducting with Jan Van der Roost and Edmond Saveniers.

Yves followed master classes with Jeroen Berwaerts, Klaus Shuwerk, Hakan Hardenberger, Antoine Currez, Reinhold Friedrich and Jan Cober.

He gained orchestral experience with the Flemish Radio Orchestra, the Philharmonic of Flanders, Il Novecento (Night of the Proms), Le Jeune Philharmonie and various Musicals.

In the 3-time European champion Brass Band Willebroek Yves played Repiano cornet.

Also as a conductor Yves has a lot of activities. He is conductor of Concertband "Musica" from Ham (B), Harmonie St.-Gertrudis from Beesel (NL) and the Royal Fanfare "De werkmanszonen" from Zichen-Zussen-Bolder (B).

Yves is also in teaching Musical Education at day school in Bilzen.
